Our Adventures
This page is a look back at some of our past events—a compilation of the many adventures we’ve shared together. These highlights are meant to give you a glimpse into the types of hands-on, nature-based experiences we create. Each gathering is unique, but you can expect the same spirit of exploration, learning, and community in all of our future adventures.
Exploring Photosynthesis: Nature’s Energy at Work

Join us for a day of hands-on learning, outdoor exploration, and creative fun as we uncover the magic of how plants make their own food. Children of all ages engaged in activities that combined science, art, and play—everything from leaf hunts and creative projects to simple experiments that brought the process of photosynthesis to life. By the end of the day, participants walked away with a deeper understanding of the natural world and the role plants play in sustaining life on Earth.
Secrets Beneath Our Feet: Exploring Soil Layers

In this event, children explored the fascinating layers beneath our feet through hands-on experiments, close-up observations, and creative projects. From examining soil composition to discovering how it sustains plants and ecosystems, participants experienced soil as more than just “dirt”—they uncovered its role as a foundation for life. This interactive day blended science, creativity, and discovery, making the topic engaging for all ages.
Into the Bloom: Exploring Algae & Water Health

In this event, participants explored the hidden world of algae through microscopy, hands-on detective work, and a take-home experiment. Using dark field and side lighting techniques, children observed details normally invisible to the eye and discovered the difference between helpful algae and harmful blooms. By simulating water clarity changes, families gained a deeper understanding of how algal blooms impact aquatic life, ecosystems, and even human communities. This experience encouraged curiosity and critical thinking for learners of all ages.
Echoes of the Land: Indigenous History

Children and families took part in an immersive journey through the history and traditions of the Jaega and Seminole peoples at Riverbend Park. Through story, exploration, and hands-on creative activities, participants connected with the land’s past and the people who shaped it. From walking trails marked by historical sites to crafting with natural materials, the day blended culture, history, and creativity into an experience that honored Indigenous heritage while sparking curiosity and respect for the natural world.
Plants with a Purpose: Discovering Herbal Uses

This event blended sensory play, science, and creativity as children explored calming herbs like lavender, chamomile, and mint. Through hands-on stations, tea blending, and take-home creations, participants discovered the many ways herbs support health and well-being. Designed for all ages, the day offered younger children playful exploration while older kids dove deeper into herbal knowledge and traditions—making it both fun and meaningful for the whole family.

Stitching History: Pioneer Skills & Stories

At the historic DuBois Pioneer Home, families stepped back into the late 1800s to experience the everyday skills that shaped early Florida life. Through a guided home tour and hands-on stations in stitching, quilting, and weaving, participants explored the resilience, creativity, and resourcefulness of pioneer families. The day combined history and craft, showing how practical skills once essential for survival can also inspire creativity, focus, and connection across generations.
